The workshop revolves around one of the most pivotal poses in yoga history. Its energetic frequency is truly unique. Just looking at the asana gives one the feeling of freedom held within the beauty of balance. The ancient yogic philosophers noted that we humans can be very attached to our point of view, even when it repeatedly brings pain or sorrow.
They recommend a practice of self-study, or Svadhyaya, in order to keep our minds open and questioning. Even the awareness of the body’s position in an asana posture is a form of self-study. Practicing a highly dynamic posture such as Natarajasana is yet another way to observe and release attachments and enjoy new ways of seeing the world, new ways of living in our bodies. Many physical attributes are associated with Natarajasana. The three most common are balance, focus and flexibility. In it’s most basic form it is a combination of a back bend and a balancing posture both of which we will be exploring in-depth. (This is a great workshop for teachers that would like to teach Natarajasana!)
We will not be limited to the physical practice of this posture. Some of the other topics included in the workshop are: • The emotional and spiritual anatomy associated with this incredible posture. • How this posture can truly be used to activate the kundalini’s movement through the charkas. • For the advanced practitioner: ~ Tips on how to adjust the student in this posture. ~ Good, safe postures to do before and after this posture. ~ Variations of this posture for all that need one. ~ The use of props and The Yoga Mandiram Rope Wall.
